What is Intraocular Lens (IOL)?

Cataract or Refractive Lens Exchange Surgery is a 2 step procedure.

In step1, cataract or natural lens is removed with phacoemulsification. Phaco technology allows us to dissect the lens through a small incision and remove it. Small incision heals faster and better.

In step2, surgeon implant an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Traditional IOLs are monofocal, which provides the recovery of distance and near vision again. However in most cases patients still need glasses to see clearly.

The feature of Premium intraocular lens is that it provides the patient’s independence from glasses. They do this by correcting the patient’s astigmatism and/or restoring near vision.

IOL will stay in my eye lifetime?

Monofocal lenses provide clear distance vision. The patient has to use glasses to see up close. It does not have the ability to correct astigmatism.

Premium lenses have been put into practice recently. Lenses in this group not only provide clear distance vision, but also help near vision to a certain extent. Astigmatism can also be corrected with Toric lenses in this group.
